Welcome!

Here is our first article for Zone 221. We’ve moved from the Wix page to this blog.

As we’ve now moved to a “blog” rather than a zine type product, you may notice that the Z might light up less. This means you’ll have to check back more often (inconvenient for you – oh dear). With that in mind, it also appears as though you’ll get a more fulfilling and enriched experience overall from the front to the back end of the site.

A lot of the articles that will be published are now going to be global. As written by other users from around ManagerZone, our Zone is heading in a different direction of content being created by international users that relate to our country. This means that a lot of the articles being created by yours truly are being touched up, images added, etc – just like a real Editor would do. This also means we’ll still see Aussie related articles, but given there are only 3 current RA’s with us today (myself, scruttino and eric_the_eel) the content will be brief and far between. We will of course endeavour to get news to you as quickly as possible at our best quality.

If you would like to contribute you can gain login details by emailing damo11@managerzone.com for permission to post 🙂

Page 3 Girls – ZONE #221

As written by user: damo11

Page 3 Girls has a new twist this season. Seeing as it’s World Cup season for both MZ and real life, the Aussie Zone is out to get the best Starting XI that we can find of the WAGs of the World Cup! Better known for the Italian team being banned from sex during the 1990 World Cup, Azeglio Vicini was quoted as saying, “Next weekend will be the last at liberty for the players before a long period of “seclusion. Chastity of players prior and during a major competition has been a long-debated but unsolved problem”.

The Brazilians have been banned this year from “acrobatic sex” acts. Continue reading Page 3 Girls – ZONE #221

The Mid Season A-League Review

The A ‘Team’ League

Even though Arrested Developers aren’t scoring as many goals this season they are still a clear No.1 and will win the league in a canter, more interest is in whether or not the will sell up and rebuild at the end of this season or next. The new retirement system has changed things dramatically in terms of prolonging a player’s career, so it may even be longer than that.

The Mighty Roos!

Australian Ice Hockey National team Report

After replacing a number of retirements with new (and better) players the Mighty Roos headed into the 2014 Confederations Cup full of hope. We benefitted strongly from the new Loyal Player scheme introduced into Managerzone, with 5 quality players added to the squad. Let’s hope their managers stick around and continue to train them well! AIHL Mid-Season report

As written by user: eric_the_eel

After the drama of last season which saw Dunedin Thunderbirds HC win in the last round for the second season in a row, the stage was set for another clash between Australia’s three top Ice Hockey Teams. Would it be Warringah Wizards, managed by nav, who would reclaim first place in the league after 2 seasons of final-day heartbreak? Would it be the increasingly competitive Polar Bear Club, managed by damo11, who would enjoy their first ever AIHL title? Or would it be Dunedin Thunderbirds HC, managed by eric_the_eel, to claim their third successive title and stamp their name down as the current team to beat in Australia? World Cup 2014 Groups

As written by user: damo11

The MZ World Cup groups have been drawn. Australia has made Group 3.  The seeding went with two first placed finishers and two second placed finishers from qualification. Groups are randomly spread. Seedings from national ranks are below with group finishings, and past results that countries are expecting to do better than their previous cup outings.

Amazingly, Italy (ranked 8th, last World Cup runner up) and Uruguay (ranked 20th, Confederations Cup runner up) both did not qualify. Thailand is the lowest ranked country coming in at 71st, and 15 countries are having a crack at the Cup after missing out on qualification last year.

Click here for the VOTE/SURVEY for who you think will be in the Top 4 countries for the World Cup.

Group 1:
 CHINA –  Rank: 3rd – Favoured formation: 5-2-3
