Welcome

Welcome to the 226th edition of the Aussie zone. Most of the credit for this edition should go to scruttino, he has written some excellent articles that are well worth a read. For those wondering as to why we haven’t been releasing more regularly, basically I’m looking to resign as both the RMA for the Asia region and the HRA for the Aussie zone due to no longer having enough time available. The way it’s looking at the moment is that we probably won’t have another zone after this one until some more people help out and someone else to organise it all.

Apart from the disappearance of the Dribblers, the top of the table looks much like it did last season and the top 3 seems well matched with Otago turning for home in first. Below them the majority of the promotion teams are fairing quite well, with only Calabria fielding a 9 man team each match seeming to be without a chance of survival.  Things look bleak for the NFC, while Cheltenham and Warringah will likely sit where they currently are for the rest of the season.

Round Commentary

Round 1 – 15-10-2014 12:00

City Water Motel 2-2 Hawthorn FC
Dunder Mifflin FC 0-1 SYDclub
Dribblers FC 1-2 Calabria F.C
Númenóreans FC 1-4 Almighty Scallywags
Jokers 1-2 Warringah Navigators
Cheltenham 0-6 Otago United

eric_the_eel
big game first up against Cheltenham, they have a pretty strong squad so should be close!

scruttino
Nav flogged me in both our matches last season, so I’m not to hopeful first up

eric_the_eel
Big win to kick things off against Cheltenham, looks like Calabria either forgot to set a new tactic without retired players or had lots suspended from the game against Dribblers!

bestplaymaker2134
My left back scored…

sakujo
Forgot to adjust my tactics for today’s game 😛 Oh wells only way is up 😀

safieeamat
as predicted a 4-1 loss to AS.

scruttino
That one was to be expected, I just match up really badly against Nav. Though he surprised me by not running wings and going straight down the middle. So my wide defense turned the game into a 10 players vs 9 in his favour. Damage restricted to a minimum, forwards we go

Round 2 – 19-10-2014 15:45

Hawthorn FC 1-0 Dunder Mifflin FC
SYDclub 7-0 Dribblers FC
Calabria F.C 0-5 Númenóreans FC
Almighty Scallywags 5-1 Jokers
Warringah Navigators 0-2 Cheltenham
Otago United 6-1 City Water Motel

safieeamat
Be good to get a point against Calabria but it will be even better if we can get all three.

scruttino
Oh Well, on the looks of Calabria I’m a shoe in for my first win next round 🙂

safieeamat
Probably have to wait till the halfway mark to see which team have a serious challenge for the title.
Good luck against Calabria, scruttino.

Round 3 – 22-10-2014 12:00

Dunder Mifflin FC 3-4 Otago United
City Water Motel 3-0 Warringah Navigators
Cheltenham 1-4 Almighty Scallywags
Jokers 12-0 Calabria F.C
Númenóreans FC 1-9 SYDclub
Dribblers FC 0-13 Hawthorn FC

eric_the_eel
Wow a fergie time win! Great game against Dunder Muffin winning 4-3 in the 97th minute.

scruttino
Happy with that, a goal rout just what the team needed to get them back in the mood

safieeamat
Midfielder shown a red card at the 9th minutes so it was downhill from there. And I tried to be brave by changing my tactic to short passing= a failure.

Round 4 – 26-10-2014 13:15

Hawthorn FC 1-2 Númenóreans FC
SYDclub 1-2 Jokers
Calabria F.C 0-10 Cheltenham
Almighty Scallywags 1-2 City Water Motel
Warringah Navigators 3-3 Dunder Mifflin FC
Otago United 13-0 Dribblers FC

eric_the_eel
double figures plz

scruttino
Happy with that, chalked up a win over the league leaders (ex leaders). We might survive this season yet 🙂

scruttino
Also good to get some pay back for the loss in the National Cup final last season, haha

safieeamat
great effort to get three point after last Wed. defeat.

eric_the_eel
managing to stay on top so far… not for long I feel…

Round 5 – 29-10-2014 15:45

Dribblers FC 1-8 Warringah Navigators
Númenóreans FC 1-6 Otago United
Jokers 4-2 Hawthorn FC
Cheltenham 2-2 SYDclub
City Water Motel 8-0 Calabria F.C
Dunder Mifflin FC 2-3 Almighty Scallywags

eric_the_eel
another big match… had the better last season but not so sure now…

scruttino
Another good performance from the boys, 3 second half goals in an even game to go from 1 down to win by 2, the team spirit is up

safieeamat
I feel like a yoyo…lose/win/lose/win/lose.

eric_the_eel
I keep putting up big wins! Averaging 7 goals a game at the moment and still surprised by it.

Round 6 – 02-11-2014 12:15

SYDclub 1-2 City Water Motel
Calabria F.C 0-13 Dunder Mifflin FC
Almighty Scallywags 9-0 Dribblers FC
Warringah Navigators 2-3 Númenóreans FC
Otago United 2-2 Jokers
Hawthorn FC 2-0 Cheltenham

bestplaymaker2134
cheers scruttino you are a legend.

scruttino
No worries, played Eric twice in the same day for a league draw and anniversary semi-final loss by 1 goal. Looks like my mixture of old and young team is in good shape

safieeamat
dug our heels in to get three points against Warringah.

eric_the_eel
great game against scruttino, would have liked the points but a draw seems like a fair result.

eric_the_eel
got the final of 13th anniversary cup against BONDI ICEBERGS coming up in a coupla days!

scruttino
Bundy may not of scored much in the national U/21 campaign, but he is putting in some important goals for me now.

Both of our recent games were good spectacles, we have another coming up soon in the National Cup group stages. Tough group that one Cheltenham, Numenoreans, yourself, myself. Who knows what could happen there

Round 7 – 05-11-2014 10:45

Dribblers FC 0-16 Dunder Mifflin FC
Jokers 7-1 Númenóreans FC
City Water Motel 6-3 Cheltenham
Calabria F.C 0-10 SYDclub
Warringah Navigators 0-3 Almighty Scallywags
Hawthorn FC 2-2 Otago United

bestplaymaker2134
yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

eric_the_eel
that’s an annoying draw, 22 shots for 2 goals? Ouch.

eric_the_eel
Won the 13th Anniverary Cup this morning however which is exciting 🙂

scruttino
I beat AS to come 3rd, nice pay cheque. Lucky red card in the league today, helps to goal difference though

bestplaymaker2134
oh crap I made it to the semis of the cup!?!? lol had completely forgotten about the anniversary cup. I was wondering why I had so much money.

bestplaymaker2134
thought that game against the icebergs was the national cup…

safieeamat
Defender got himself red-carded in the 21st minute not much more that I can say except well done scruttino.

Round 8 – 09-11-2014 18:15

Dunder Mifflin FC 4-2 Jokers
Númenóreans FC 1-5 City Water Motel
Cheltenham 8-0 Dribblers FC
SYDclub 4-1 Warringah Navigators
Almighty Scallywags 1-1 Hawthorn FC
Otago United 12-0 Calabria F.C

safieeamat
“Houston we have a problem/s”. lol

scruttino
Pretty even game, couldn’t take advantage of the red card this time though.

Round 9 – 12-11-2014 13:00

City Water Motel 4-0 Jokers
Dribblers FC 0-7 Númenóreans FC
Cheltenham 3-4 Dunder Mifflin FC
Hawthorn FC 0-2 Warringah Navigators
Calabria F.C 0-13 Almighty Scallywags
Otago United 3-1 SYDclub

eric_the_eel
bit of a gap opening out at the top now with 3 of us… top of the table clash next weekend!

scruttino
24 shots to my boys 17, 4-0 seems a bit much but it’s the conversion rate I now need to work on. The game itself was pretty even. My young defense is still a work in progress though, so these results are quite encouraging

safieeamat
needed the three points to keep in touch with the packs.

Round 10 – 16-11-2014 10:30

Dunder Mifflin FC 1-4 City Water Motel
Jokers 9-0 Dribblers FC
Númenóreans FC 0-4 Cheltenham
SYDclub 2-2 Hawthorn FC
Warringah Navigators 15-0 Calabria F.C
Almighty Scallywags 0-1 Otago United

bestplaymaker2134
too exicited

eric_the_eel
nervous!

scruttino
Wonder how many I’ll score against DFC? Healthy goal boost coming no matter what

bestplaymaker2134
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

bestplaymaker2134
noooooo placed the wrong defender against your winger!! Don’t know if that would’ve made a difference.

safieeamat
free falling into the abyss called the “Relegation”. lol

eric_the_eel
wow great game! i’d say you’ll win the rematch in 2 weeks 🙂

Round 11 – 19-11-2014 18:00

Dribblers FC 0-8 City Water Motel
Dunder Mifflin FC 5-1 Númenóreans FC
Jokers 4-0 Cheltenham
Calabria F.C 0-17 Hawthorn FC
SYDclub 1-3 Almighty Scallywags
Warringah Navigators 0-1 Otago United

scruttino
pleasantly surprised to be sitting 4th at the halfway mark

safieeamat
the light at the end of tunnel is getting dimmer. lol

 Some time off at last

Uni has finished so it’s back to working on music and drumming in the band again. It’s nice to sleep in though, as I didn’t realise how tired I was and how long it would take to feel normal again. Time to see if an anthropology degree with honours equates with finding a job.

Cheers, Matt

It came down to the last round and Otago United who lead into the last round lost, handing the title to Almighty Scallywags, whose season long persistence eventually paid off. This is the first A-League title for Playmaker, whose decision not to sell his star striker Boyde Minne has finally paid off.

City Water dropped off at the end season but still held on to third from a fast finishing SYDClub. The best promotion team were the Jokers, followed by Cheltenham and Hawthorn securing the last spots of safety with solid seasons.

Warringah and Dunder Mifflin will have to now run the unpredictable gauntlet of the playoffs, but they both secured promotion via the playoffs last season and can do again. Girrawheen never found any rhythm, The Dribblers finally won a match in the last round and Calabria FC have been missing in action for the entire season.

scruttino
It was a close game, just on the wrong end of this one

Big big match today!

bestplaymaker2134
Yay

safieeamat
Fairly even match we should have taken advantage of Cheltenham when they went down to 10 men. Alas

maccorosso
http://managerzone.com/?p=match&sub=result&mid=738622775

scruttino
Yeah, but things are different when you play at home. In this match I was the better team, at home you were the better side.

bestplaymaker2134
Home advantage exists in MZ?

scruttino
I believe so, if you look at the league home and away results from the Jokers vs City Water Motel games it shows a significant difference in on pitch performance from basically the same starting 11’s and same tactics

bestplaymaker2134
You can’t expect two identical matches even if no changed are made. Anything can happen.

safieeamat
We need this three points

Round 15 – 03-12-2014 16:45

Jokers 3-1 Dunder Mifflin FC
City Water Motel 7-1 Girrawheen SC
Dribblers FC 0-11 Cheltenham

My Argentine winger is injured for 3 days…. =/

bestplaymaker2134
This is too tense

safieeamat
A bad day at the office.

scruttino
I’ve been lucky with a few red cards this season. Still was a close game though

Round 16 – 07-12-2014 12:15

Dunder Mifflin FC 6-0 Dribblers FC
Girrawheen SC 0-4 Jokers
Cheltenham 2-0 City Water Motel
SYDclub 14-0 Calabria F.C
Almighty Scallywags 3-1 Warringah Navigators
Otago United 4-0 Hawthorn FC

safieeamat
I might steal a point against the Jokers but the way my season has gone so far it’ll be a miracle. he he he

safieeamat
Damnit I went church and everything for miracle.ha ha ha

bestplaymaker2134
Wooooo

scruttino
I’ll see if I can throw a spanner in the works for the title race next round, beat Eric in the national cup (if statistically a slight upset) so it could happen again

safieeamat
Best of luck.. NCA vs NC

eric_the_eel
Always tough against Jokers!

I managed to beat Hawthorn despite not a single player on my team averaging over 50% on tackles…

nickybutt23
I’m away in Japan at the moment and haven’t been able to log in for a while. Hoping my form isn’t screwed for the last weeks!

Round 17 – 10-12-2014 19:45

City Water Motel 1-2 SYDclub
Dunder Mifflin FC 15-0 Calabria F.C
Dribblers FC 0-11 Almighty Scallywags
Girrawheen SC 1-4 Warringah Navigators
Jokers 0-3 Otago United
Cheltenham 1-1 Hawthorn FC

scruttino
That’s all fair enough, my left back fractured his leg a few days ago and is out for another 14 days. McGowan just couldn’t hold the fort, but he has time on his side to get better

bestplaymaker2134
I had hopes for you mate….

safieeamat
Looks like I’m facing a season or more in Division One.

Round 18 – 14-12-2014 16:15

Otago United 2-3 Girrawheen SC

safieeamat
The SIM must be feeling sorry for the underdogs today, can’t believe my eye.

scruttino
Tried something a little different and it showed promise, just need better players to pull it off. A draw is a fair result though

nickybutt23
Mwahahaha

nickybutt23
I love that I always seem to pull out a win in our league games

Round 19 – 17-12-2014 18:30

Girrawheen SC 2-5 Hawthorn FC
Jokers 1-1 SYDclub
Cheltenham 18-0 Calabria F.C
City Water Motel 3-2 Almighty Scallywags
Dunder Mifflin FC 3-3 Warringah Navigators
Dribblers FC 0-9 Otago United

bestplaymaker2134
My tactic didn’t save wtf….

nickybutt23
Still wings, youll probably be fine

bestplaymaker2134
Well, that’s that. Good season everyone. My 8sp 7tack centre back did his best.

scruttino
Bad luck, and sorry about the red card in the National 3rd place playoff.

With that point and the inevitable 3 coming up against Calabria next round. City water can beat Warringah I’ll be safe with a 7 point break on relegation zone with 2 rounds remaining.

Though I’m still unsure if I should extend the 2 contracts I can or just let them retire and take the probable demotion next season as my youngsters still need a bit of work before they are ready to play. AS their is a big difference between losing 1 player and 3 players

bestplaymaker2134
I don’t think I’ve had a red card all season….next thing you know…1 red card for the national cup semi final, 1 for the 3rd place place off and 1 for today’s all important match. I hate this.

bestplaymaker2134
…and all within a few days….arrghhhhh

nickybutt23
Painful 91st goal to end my match in a draw. Would have been someone useful points to help keep me out of the red

nickybutt23
I didn’t even realise I was in the nat cup this season, it all happened while I was away. Looks like I must have had an ineligible team in the u/18s too 😦

bestplaymaker2134
You wouldn’t have done better anyways.

safieeamat
Just can’t get that winning formula for my team…

nickybutt23
To be honest, I’d probably have done worse

Round 20 – 21-12-2014 17:45

Otago United 1-1 Dunder Mifflin FC
Warringah Navigators 2-1 City Water Motel
Almighty Scallywags 6-1 Cheltenham
Calabria F.C 0-9 Jokers
SYDclub 2-1 Girrawheen SC
Hawthorn FC 11-1 Dribblers FC

nickybutt23
My boys may as well stay on the bus today

bestplaymaker2134
The butt upsets again

safieeamat
Make it a double-decker bus, nickybutt23. lol

nickybutt23
Another upset to add to the list. I don’t know how it happens so often. I think the managerzone gods just want me to keep things interesting but to never actually have any success

scruttino
The next round has some juicy match ups that could alter the course of the title and further down the table

bestplaymaker2134
Imagine if you “accidentally” use your youths…

maccorosso
I feel a bit under pressure..

bestplaymaker2134
If you win, I will fly over to wherever you are and kiss you on the forehead.

Round 21 – 24-12-2014 17:15

Dunder Mifflin FC 1-2 Hawthorn FC
Dribblers FC 0-9 SYDclub
Girrawheen SC 9-0 Calabria F.C
Jokers 1-3 Almighty Scallywags
Cheltenham 1-1 Warringah Navigators

nickybutt23
Anyone need some friendlies this week? I haven’t organised any yet

eric_the_eel
Always keen!

bestplaymaker2134
Accidentally play your youths against me please.

bestplaymaker2134
I’m disappointed macca. GO CHELTENHAM!!!!!!

safieeamat
Nice win. Last match of the season on Sunday. Looks like Div.1 for me next season or more. Merry Xmas everybody.

 The End

It’s been a long year. I completed my honours years in Anthropology, while working on the double album of music as a mental break from reading and writing. The highlight of my year was being a part of a mobilities research tour through the Murray Darling Basin and visiting Mungo National Park. I had a go at being a NCA, I don’t think I’ll run for the top job though as it’s time to find a proper job and focus my efforts elsewhere for the time being. I hope everyone is doing well and had a good year, and if not then try and make the new one better than the last. Cheers, Matt

You can’t keep a good manager down, Rookerman and the Glasston Bottles return to the A-League with what looks like a pretty decent side. Nav put up a good fight but has been demoted, Skoolage need a bit more time to grow older and the HASSELHOFF BABES never really had a chance.

Group 1.2

Nickybutt and his Dunder Mifflin flyers have done an admirable job to hold off the Crimson Eagles and retain their place in the A-League. They may not be senile old men but the Crimson Eagles do need to get a bit older and more experienced before they attain the A-League promotion they desire.  White City Eagles weren’t that bad, while Brisbane Roar maintain their consistent run of making the playoffs and coming last in their group.

The title will most likely remain a 3 way struggle between the reigning champs Almighty Scallywags, last season winners Otago United and the so far unlucky third wheel City Water Motel. Yet at least on paper Bondi Icebergs look to have the quality to cause more than a few surprises and should be well up the table.

Hawthorn are trying to sell up, but so far the only players sold have been two strikers. This may change soon, but without the fire power of last season scoring in this one may be difficult.  Beyond that the usual difficulties of predicting how well the promoted teams will be remain, Glasston have the ability to be mid-table. As do Cheltenham, Dunder Mifflin, SYD Club and the Jokers. Three of these teams will be safe, two in the relegation playoffs and one unlucky soul relegated directly.

Arrested Developers and Phillip Hughes 63 n.o. are going to struggle, as their still rebuilding with young squads, but they will surprise a few above them along the way.

If I had one message of advice for the new season it would be get ready for Bondi Icebergs to emerge from a long and deep slumber. Other than that good luck to all and have fun.

Top 10 of Market 1/2 Season 52

Written by rodrigoazul77

We are in the middle of Season 52 , ideal for a recount of the highest sales so far in this season. As you can see , the quality of the players is varied, also their ages and nationalities , although on average we see a historical trend in ManagerZone: the magic formula of a good purchase/sale is high quality and youth.

For Position
The 10 most expensive players so far this season sales are varied, as we can observe we have a balance between defenders and strikers.

A goalkeeper , three defenders , a midfielder ( which may well count as wing) , and three front area strikers (oddly enough, no header striker in this list).

By Country
In ManagerZone the volume of users in a country is a important matter. More active managers more greater the chances of a football player genius. However, despite this, we can not find any player from Argentina or Brazil to this account (one Brazilian Ryan Giggs stayed out for about $ 100,000 USD).

Well, as seen, the Top 10 is dominated by Turkey (3 players) , followed closely by China ( 2 players). And with one player: Sweden, Colombia, Denmark, Portugal and Romania.

By Age
The Training 2.0 has lowered the age at maturity of the players and as consecuence of the update of the experience, our players can compete on equal terms from 23 or 24 years. This change has also altered the prices, both because now the young players are more expensive; and as consequences of lower retirement age, the oldest players aren’t expensive as before.

– 4 Players 26 age ( season of birth)
– 2 Players Under 23 age( 1 U21 and 1 U23 ) .
– 1 Player 24 age (by season of birth)
– 1 Player 30 age (by season of birth)
– 1 Player 31 age(by season of birth).

As you can see , the data show a clear trend to pay higher for young players that in the old system were completed more older . The mature players have few seasons ahead, now they are a high risk.

The most expensive sales of this midseason

1. Blessed are the Training 2.0 and Training Camps , the quality of the player and the development that has taken is without a doubt impressive . As impressive as the quality is the price paid by the player of the national team of China. Undoubtedly the money it cost is proportional to the expectations of managers and importance given to the U21 cups.

Comment: It is obvious that the value of the sale will increase the price of the Training Camps, and therefore almost impossible to bear the cost. As consecuence, training speed of the player will be reduced, and the player may lose market value if resold in the future. This sale only can be good if the manager complete his objectives.

2. Another Training 2.0 son. Originally from Turkey, is the most complete wing on the market. Quick as lightning and many seasons ahead is undoubtedly one of the best wings in MZ.

Comment: Oymen has come to the market 2 times. The first time the player was paid a million dollars less. Oymen definitely worth the price paid , the problem is the high weekly tab: about U$40,000 in salary.

3. Another player from China. He can play both in defense position and wing position.

Comment: This player is maxed in almost all of the important skills only can train player intelligence. Is an extraordinary defense to U23 team, but in adult level is inexperienced . The potential of the player is almost exhausted , but with how complete it is, is an excellent defender who has many seasons ahead.

4.- Named as the goalkeeper from Russia Igor Akinfeed, The MZ version is the most extraordinary keeper that I’ve seen in ManagerZone. Not much more to add.

5. – Olofsson can not play U23 matches . However , his qualities as a defender are obvious . Three in skills in 10 balls, make of him a player of two complete times.

Comment: I can not remember their maxed skills. If the player continues Intelligence and passes, it can be a great buy. Conversely , if maxed Intelligence, passes and aerial will be very difficult to recoup the investment.

6. Herrera is another gifted player who attended to all Training Camps. Its great potential has been developed almost entirely, leaving only heading for training.

He turns 26 age this season. Given the time ahead, his manager has secured a good player for a long time . A good buy could hardly go for less.

7. – This is the first sale of Oymen. As we can compare to the second sale, the price difference is more than $ 1.3 million. As his tenure at the club was brief , the money was lost in taxes.

Comment: The player went from a salary of 15,000 dolars a week to more than 40,000 . Given the time permanence at his new club, the high profile and the exciting at the moment of purchase did rethink things their new manager.

8. Lucretio, a defender of Romania, is on track to reach the final stretch of his career.

Comment: If we compare the price paid for Herrera (the player in the number 6). I think that it is a purchase you pay dearly. In terms of age, is possible that the money never will be recovered.

9. I do not know why Urbing isn’t in Denmark National Team. May be because the tactics with wings. Still, he is an extraordinary striker .

Comment: The new retirement system affects fairly when we need evaluating a purchase over 30 years. This player will have 30 year old, and therefore will lose market value. It can be an excellent buy in the short term if the manager gets to fulfill his goals for this season.

10. Guerreiro – lives up to its name (Guerreiro = warrior), is young striker with great potential . The price of your sale is in line with its quality.

Comment: I don’t know if the player continued training in short passes. Even if was maxed , he can continuing his training in Header. It is a good buy with lots of potential and future.

Bonus

It could have been the most expensive sale than this season but it was not. The sale was stopped by the Support, the reason? obviously the value offered was not commensurate with the quality of the player and therefore merited suspend transaction for “High Price”.
