Welcome to Aussiezone 236!

Dear reader,

Welcome back for another edition of The Zone.

It’s our fourth edition since our comeback and it’s probably a bit lighter than the past three due to the season rollover, and personal time constraints. Nevertheless, we’ve got the usual stuff, but a big shoutout to chucky06 on his outstanding A-League preview. You don’t want to miss it!

We cover all things A-League, Div 1, AIHL,  if you’re game enough to up against rubiton111 and his generous U18 bounty challenge, there’s some incentive there to be had. There’s not much going on in the national team of late so we’ve left that off the map for now until there’s newsworthy pieces.

Again, leaving this call out for anyone who’d like to contribute to our wonderful Zone, please just shoot me a message in my guestbook with anything you’d like to write. We welcome all of these contributions across the realm of MZ Australia.

Enjoy the read!

Dear reader,

Welcome back for another edition of MZ Australian Zones. We’re doing our first end of season reviews in a long time so bear with us as we take an extra day or two to get things moving again.

As well as our regular contributions from myself and chucky06 covering all things A-League, Div 1, AIHL, all grades of National Cups, and National Teams, we’ve also got a couple of volunteer U18 pieces from rubiton111 in this edition.

Again, leaving this call out for anyone who’d like to contribute to our wonderful Zone, please just shoot me a message in my guestbook with anything you’d like to write. We welcome all of these contributions across the realm of MZ Australia.

Welcome to Aussiezone 234!

Dear reader,

That’s right, we’re back! Two editions in two weeks! It’s not 957 days like the last one – it’s just 15 days instead.

A new era in MZ Australia has begun and we’re looking at sharing an article from chucky06 this week with a great look at the A-League over 10 seasons as our special feature.  We have a look at the race for promotion for the div 1 competitions, the finals across the U23/U18 national cups, and of course to round out the zine are a wrap of hockey, a flashback and a review of the A-league today.

I’ll keep this Editorial short, sharp and sweet, but again leave the callout for anyone who’d like to contribute, to please just shoot me a message in my guestbook with anything you’d like to write. We welcome all of these contributions across the realm of MZ Australia.

Enjoy the read!

Welcome to Aussiezone 233!

Dear reader,

Wow! I bet you didn’t expect to see that Z in the top right corner light up! No this is not April Fool’s, in fact, it’s a real edition of the Australian Zone for the first time in 957 days — a monumental occasion we can all celebrate.

But hey … WELCOME BACK! It’s a new era in Australian Zone writing as we look towards the future of what may be only a few years after we said goodbye for a while. The hiatus has left us with a hole we felt we needed to close, and the time is right to bring The Zone back to the readers, even if it’s probably only a handful.

This edition we thank the valuable and very wonderful contributions from chucky06 and grinner. Please give me a hand here in thanking them for their efforts on what they’ve put together, and encouragement in getting The Zone back on its feet. It hasn’t been an easy task, but we’re committed to making it somewhat of a great tool as it once was in its glory years. In particular, I’d like to thank the previous editor Scruttino in keeping The Zone running solo up until its last entry point almost four-figures of days ago. Without him, we wouldn’t still have the login to access this site 😛

While we’ve managed to make this edition a reality, we’d also love to see more articles across the board from Australians to write in The Zone – even something as small as a note, a diary entry, a wall post to my guestbook, an idea that you would like to see in The Zone, or an article each edition or even every two editions – we welcome all of these contributions across the realm of MZ Australia.

But without further ado, please give yourself a good 10 minutes to get through all of the reading. It’s great to be back with you in your palms.

Enjoy the read!

Welcome to Aussiezone 230

Welcome to Aussiezone, the 230th edition of our humble Zone. This is the most in depth and professional Zone I’ve put together yet, with local content ranging from A-League reviews, playoffs and previews – revealing the winners of all the competitions and discussing the new season, National Cup articles, AIHL, plus National Team news and how the Aussie Legends fared in the inaugral legends league, with the second round inductees introduced.

There are articles and special interviews courtesy of our international RA partners in Brazil – Maxximus, Turkey – Isk42 and Cankuthan, Italy – Theking94 and Sweden – Bebben delivering content with a global relevance for us all to read, much appreciated. Isk42 has done a great job with several interviews from the higher ranks of crew, xA’s and the winning coach from the recent European Cup.

But it’s not all rosy, we are in for a fight to keep our Zone as a stand alone quaterly released. Our MA Yunus is on our side, so that’s a good thing, but crew want all countries to release 3 zones a season or be rolled into collective regional zones to do so.

I flatly told Yunus my opinion on the matter and he agreed with me, in short there is no way I’m releasing 3 Zones of this same standard every season, writing 10-12 articles a month. That’s the equivalent of doing a full-time job for free. There is a reason every HRA before me has burnt out and quit his post, they were overworked putting together a magazine they had to released to often.

This problem has been exascerbated with the Australian community contracting. I’ve been asked to find new RA’s to help me out and if any are out there that would like to be involved as active writers new or old then by all means get in touch with me. But neither will I force people to do a job they don’t want to do, a point on which Yunus and I agree. Being an RA is suppose to be fun and enhance the experience of playing the game for those who choose to get involved through their own free will.

It’s quality, not quantity and how fast you knock them out that makes people want to read the zone. Everyone knows I will release a zone the weekend before a new season starts, it’s regular schedule you can trust, released when Managerzone has it’s peak number of users online to maximise it’s exposure when the new season begins.

I went back to one zone a season to avoid the burnout of those before me and keep the workout manageable with a lack of contributing RA’s. Eric and Therk have been unable to write this time round, with Senile Old Men the sole fellow aussie to help out with the national team article as head coach, Senile it’s much appreciated.

This is an unusual welcome to Zone 230, but I wanted to inform you all of what is going on and where the future of aussiezone sits within the mechanics of the internal Managerzone beast. I’m willing to contribute to a regional zone, but they have been tried before and failed to engage with the users. It would be a shame to have our Blog become inactive because of an internal decision I fundamentally disagree with. Hopefully that won’t happen and I’ll do my best to keep things as they are right now.

In a smaller markets such as Australia, I believe a well done single zone per season, combining a local focus, with articles about the global game is a better option than a regional zone. From tracking wordpress’s views data on who reads from where around the globe. I know that this format of Aussiezone already has an international readership across Europe, Asia, North and South America through multiple countries on all continents. So Yunus and I will fight to keep aussiezone as you know it alive and well. Enjoy the read, Cheers, Matt

Welcome!

Here is our first article for Zone 221. We’ve moved from the Wix page to this blog.

As we’ve now moved to a “blog” rather than a zine type product, you may notice that the Z might light up less. This means you’ll have to check back more often (inconvenient for you – oh dear). With that in mind, it also appears as though you’ll get a more fulfilling and enriched experience overall from the front to the back end of the site.

A lot of the articles that will be published are now going to be global. As written by other users from around ManagerZone, our Zone is heading in a different direction of content being created by international users that relate to our country. This means that a lot of the articles being created by yours truly are being touched up, images added, etc – just like a real Editor would do. This also means we’ll still see Aussie related articles, but given there are only 3 current RA’s with us today (myself, scruttino and eric_the_eel) the content will be brief and far between. We will of course endeavour to get news to you as quickly as possible at our best quality.

If you would like to contribute you can gain login details by emailing damo11@managerzone.com for permission to post 🙂
